Clarissa Jhane Abernathy, also known as Clarissa J. or Clarissa J. Beats, is a African-American music producer born & raised in Jersey City, NJ. Clarissa had a love of music and started singing at a young age. Throughout her teenage years she started writing poetry, sometimes to instrumentals of some of her favorite songs. Clarissa also was learning how to play the piano but never finished, however she did learn how to play the guitar at the age of 14. Poetry sparked an interest of becoming a rapper but that fell short when she watched a documentary about music producers & also because she didn't feel it was her "thing". It inspired her to give it try & look more into the producing side of music. She fell in love with the craft & has been producing ever since the age of 15. She didn't start releasing beats until the age of 16 & when she got positive reviews & people were interested, she started studying legendary producers and learning the craft and history. In 2016 she released her first album, "Beat Junkie," the album had beats that she made throughout the year & some of 2015. Between 2016 & 2017 she worked with a few up and coming artists such as, Syrin, AmbrLyn, Phresh, Nile and more. On June 12, 2017, Clarissa J. released the album "Trapped." The album was mostly instrumental but included interviews on some tracks from some of her favorite artists including Nina Simone, SZA, Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole. The album also included artists, AmbrLyn, Syrin, and Phresh.
