Buying Beats (19)

Payments will occasionally fail silently when checking out using PayPal, even though you are successfully returned to Beat Brokerz. If your order is still in a "payment pending" state after checking out through PayPal, first log into Paypal and verify that the transaction was actually completed. If you do not see the transaction in your recent activity, then the payment was never actually billed. In our experience, this is the most common cause for this issue.

If this is the case, you can safely attempt to purchase the product again using the alternative Paypal method.

If you have double checked that the payment was actually made through Paypal, please contact us with your order number and Paypal transaction ID so that we can look for another issue.

Please see the following document for more information about missing emails after an order is completed.

http://www.rapbeatbrokerz.com/faq/what-if-i-didnt-receive-any-emails-after-i-placed-order

If you still cannot access your purchased downloads, there are other possible causes. Here are some common situations that we see that may delay or prevent you from accessing your downloads.

  • If you pay with an eCheck (your bank account) using Paypal, those funds are not disbursed immediately and will take 2-3 days for your order to be completed. Once the eCheck clears, then your order is automatically updated and the downloads become available.
  • On rare occasion, Paypal takes up to an hour to update our system with your payment information. This can delay your order from being completed and the emails from being sent out.

Otherwise, please contact our support line at any time with your order number and/or email address and we can help you out.

A free download cannot be used for production music or any profitable use. It is provided for song-writing purposes and use in demo recordings only. To use this beat in a mastered track or profitable distribution, you must purchase an appropriate license.

In most cases, yes. However, producers have the ability to set their own licensing terms which can include the policy of leaving an audible tag on the high quality version of the purchased instrumental. We disclose this information to you (if that is the case), in the "How It Works" description of the particular license you are interested in.

We currently only accept Paypal and Credit Card (in certain circumstances) as our instant payment methods. If you wish to use an alternate payment method such as Check, Money Order, or Western Union/Moneygram you will need to contact our sales department and make special arrangements to send the payment.

Our marketplace includes work that is uploaded by different producers with varying fulfillment policies. So the answer to this question can vary based on the producer who you are purchasing from.

For your convenience, when viewing the license details for a beat, or if you add a license to your cart, we show what files will be included with the purchase. Formats that can be delivered are WAV, MP3, ZIP, and RAR. If the producer hasn't specifically described what the contents of the delivery file is, we will show only what the type of file is for the files that will be delivered.

Typically, a producer will upload tracked out versions in an archive format such as ZIP or RAR. While MP3 and WAV are usually just mixdowns (unless otherwise specified.) Check the files that will be delivered for your license that you are interested in to see if it includes a stated tracked out version, or one of the archive file types (ZIP or RAR).

If you are still unclear, you can contact the producer using our built in contact form to inquire about a specific license. Or you may contact our support team and we will find the correct information for you.

Choosing which license is right for you depends on the needs of you project. If you need certain rights for certain uses, your best bet would be to compare what each license offers, and see if the rights granted fit your project demands. Basic licenses are generally used for small projects, premium licenses tend to be used for larger projects that require more units sold and/or more ways to use the master recording, and exclusive rights are for more mainstream projects.

Currently we accept only electronic payments in U.S. currency using Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Paypal.

Our complete policies regarding purchases made through our site can be found on our buyer warranties page.

Here is our policy on the matter:

The Beat Brokerz Store delivers Products which are maintained and represented by third party sellers in our marketplace. As we make every effort to verify the quality and accuracy of the Products represented in our store, it may be possible for a download to vary significantly from its representation. If the download you receive is not the Product represented by your purchase as determined by Beat Brokerz, we make the following guarantee to the buyer: We will make available, free of charge, another download link to the correct Product, or if the correct Product cannot be made available, we will refund 100% of the purchase price to the buyer including any taxes paid.

We use the term "license certificate" to refer to the digitally signed license file that comes with every beat purchased through our online marketplace. The license certificate constitutes the legal proof of rights granted between the buyer and seller for beats purchased on Beat Brokerz.

Technical Details
The "license certificate" is actually just a human readable text file which outlines in plain english the terms under which any given instrumental beat was sold. A digital signature which can only be produced by Beat Brokerz and is unique to each individual license certificate, is then added to the text file which serves as proof that we brokered the transaction and that the contract is legitimate.

We send each license certificate that we sign to both the licensee (buyer) and licensor (seller). In this way, both parties rights are protected as the license certificate is a secure proof of the transaction under the given terms.

Security
If either party attempts to modify any terms outlined within the license certificate, the Beat Brokerz signature will not validate and the license certificate is not legitimate. And since we are the only one capable of generating our unique signature, it is not possible for anybody to make up their own license certificate and claim that a beat was licensed under it.

Instrumental Beats purchased through the Beat Brokerz marketplace are available instantly for download as soon as payment is made in full. An email is sent to the email address used to make the purchase which has download links to the purchased music.

The downloads are direct from our servers and are available for up to a week after the transaction is completed. You can access current and past file downloads from your Beat Brokerz user account which is created automatically when you checkout.

Refunds and our Money Back Guarantee are part of our buyer warranties policy.

Licenses can expire in the following ways:

  • Time
If the term stated on the license certificate has been reached, the license is expired.
  • Sales
If the quantity of units sold has reached the limit set in the license certificate, the license is expired.

When you purchase exclusive rights to use instrumental music here on Beat Brokerz, you are taking the ability away from other recording artists to license and use that instrumental music. After the sale of a license which includes exclusive rights, the beat is de-listed in the marketplace and all licenses for the beat become unavailable for purchase.

You should also be aware that exclusive rights to use a beat are not necessarily permanent. Since licenses can expire when certain limits are reached, exclusive rights can expire along with that. For example, a license that includes exclusive rights and a license term of 2 years, would grant you the exclusive use of that instrumental beat for 2 years... at which point your license would expire and the beat could be licensed again to other artists.

A "beat lease" is a generic way to reference a non-exclusive license of instrumental music. It's like calling an automobile a car.

Licenses are offered by producers for the use of their instrumental music in performance and production. A license must be purchased in order to legally use the instrumental music in any profitable distribution of derivative works.

Producers have the flexibility to offer different licensing options on their instrumentals in our marketplace to suit different usage scenarios. Any given instrumental beat may have a number of different licenses available for purchase, each suited to a specific type of buyer. In this way, instrumental beats can be sold for a price that is appropriate to how they intend to be used.

Once a license is purchased for a beat in the Beat Brokerz marketplace, a license certificate is generated and signed digitally for legal purposes. It is then sent out with the order to both the buyer (licensee) and the seller (licensor). The license certificate acts as the legal contract between the artist and producer.

Well, it depends.... Beat Brokerz is a dynamic marketplace where producers are able to set their own licensing terms and conditions for the sale of their instrumental music. So what you will be using the beat for will usually determine what license you purchase from the producer.

With that said, in order to keep things as simple and straightforward as possible for you (the buyer) to understand; every license for sale here is structured in a standardized way.

Essentially, when you purchase a license using the Beat Brokerz service, you are granted the right to make a derivative work from the instrumental music and in nearly all cases, sell that derivative work for a profit. You are also granted the right to perform the derivative work. How you sell or perform that derivative work is entirely up to you, however, the license defines how much of that you can actually do without paying royalties back to the producer.

Things you cannot do include:

  • Resell or license the instrumental music yourself in any way
  • Transfer ownership of the instrumental music or license to another party

Step 1.
We send out email receipts and download links to the email address that was used during the checkout process. Please verify that you are checking the correct email account. If you mistakenly used an incorrect email address during checkout, please call or email our support line so that we can get your email address corrected on the order.

Step 2.

If you did not receive any email from us at the email address used to place the order, it may be due to our email being blocked by your spam filter. Please check in your spam folder to see if our email was mistakenly routed there. To ensure that our email does not get blocked by your spam filter, you may need to add the following email address to your contacts list:  sales [at] rapbeatbrokerz [dot] com

Step 3.

If you still cannot find the emails that we sent to you, you should visit our lost password retrieval page to request your account login information be re-sent to you. Access the password recovery page here. Once you have access to your Beat Brokerz customer account, you will be able to review your order and download any purchased files from your account interface.

Step 4.

If you are still having trouble with downloading your purchased files or have other concerns regarding your order, please contact our support line.

Licensing (11)

Technically, the licensing agreement considers a distributed copy (whether paid or not) as royalty bearing, which would count toward your licensing limit. If you were to give away more than 2000 copies of your mastered track, you could be liable to pay royalties for the copies in excess of 2000 that you distributed even though you hadn't made a cent on them.

It depends on the license terms that the seller is offering. If the license terms state that you can air the mastered track on the radio, then you would be entitled to do that under the terms of the license.

A free download cannot be used for production music or any profitable use. It is provided for song-writing purposes and use in demo recordings only. To use this beat in a mastered track or profitable distribution, you must purchase an appropriate license.

Pre-Sales (7)

Voice tags are an audible watermark. They are usually removed from the purchased version of the beat. There are exceptions to this rule however.

Typically, the producer of the beat offers an untagged version of the beat when a paid license is purchased. The description provided for the specific licenses available from the Beat Details page will outline what type of producer credits are required when the beat is distributed. Occasionally, the producer will require that one voice tag remain in the beat (depending on the license purchased). Make sure to read the details for the license that you are purchasing for clarity on this.

Selling Beats (23)

Our copyright service is provided as a complement to the US Copyright Office official registration. We document and provide a public record of your music ownership, as well as provide you with prepared forms to send to the USCO for the final filing. It is a convenience method for copyright registration, and can give you an extra weapon of deterrent to piracy of your music.

We do not attempt however to verify the authenticity of your claim, or "clear" any samples or other copyrighted work contained within your registered work. It is up to you to ensure that you are within your legal right to claim ownership of any registered work.

Just Originals. The only circumstance where samples are permitted is when the samples have been licensed and cleared for sale by the copyright owner of the sample.

Our charts are based on two main factors. Sales and promotion. Music that sells will be boosted in the charts. Music that is promoted through our site promotions will also be boosted in the charts. Beyond that, there are several micro factors which are calculated into the rankings, but to achieve top chart positions, you'll need to have either sales, promotions, or both.

Our payment system is handled by Paypal. When we receive and send payments, it is in US Dollars. However, you can withdraw that currency using your Paypal account and automatically convert it into your local currency.

Problem: When I select the file and click upload, it says starting upload, but then nothing happens (or I get an error 0).

Solution: There are two methods to uploading your music.

The first method is the "upload" button next to the file select field on the beat editing page. The upload button uses a technology to upload the music behind the scenes and give you a progress bar status as it is uploading. In certain circumstances, this method may give you problems (depending on connection speed, browser version, security settings, etc.).

The second method is to simply select the file from the file select field on your beat editing page (for all fields that require a file upload), but don't click the upload button. Just continue to complete the rest of the beat details on the page and click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page. When you use this method, the files are uploaded all at the same time when the save button is clicked. If the first method mentioned above is giving you problems, you should use this fallback method.

All sellers are automatic affiliates. There is no need to enroll separately.

We don't currently allow the free download option to be disabled. It is bad for business. It hurts sales.

You want the artist or person listening to your beat to fall in love with it. You want them to download it, put it on their ipod, and write music to it. You want them to desperately need to purchase the untagged high quality version to finish their music. That's how you make sales.

The principle is the same that software companies use when they offer free software downloads. It's the same as free trials for paid subscription services. They use the technique because it's effective. We offer free downloads because it's effective.

Instructions for uploading new beats into your inventory can be found in our seller guidebook.

Please see our page on "Listing a Beat For Sale".

We offer you ways to track your sales, purchases and even free downloads. In your account dash the tools are available to find out exactly what your business is doing for you. Compare download to sale ratios, see what beats sell the most, and even track via month, year or product.

We offer affiliate commissions for referrals to our site which result in sales. You can read more about our affiliate program on our affiliate program page.

For the standard affiliate, the products that qualify for affiliate commissions are restricted to music purchased from sellers in our marketplace. We do not pay commissions for sales of membership subscriptions, promotions purchases, or other products offered on Beat Brokerz.

We may offer special commission packages to site partners which vary from these guidelines, but this is done on a case by case basis. If you are interested in an alternate commission structure and/or affiliate arrangement, please contact our sales department.

More information about our payout policy and our commission structure can be found on our fees & commissions page.

To protect the buyer from having their email address potentially distributed to multiple producers (and multiple mailing lists) from placing an order in our marketplace, we do not include their email address in the order history. If you need to contact the buyer after a sale, you can phone them directly or optionally use the built in order update form which will send them an email.

Exclusive beat sales are handled in the same way as any other sale with one exception. Once the transaction has been completed and the money has been received, the beat can no longer be purchased from the marketplace and it is marked as sold.

Also, since licenses can be sold with exclusive rights which only last for a given amount of time, we will keep track of that, and relist the beat for sale once that time limit has been reached (if applicable).

For Teaser Audio (Tagged Beats), the only acceptable format is mp3. Your tagged audio will be marketed through various channels to encourage sales so we need it to be in this format for interoperability.

For Order Fulfillment (Untagged Beats), we accept multiple formats. Acceptable formats include: mp3, wav, zip, rar

Soundclick (5)

We DO NOT offer Soundclick promotion services. We offer Beat Brokerz promotion services. We have some great ways available for you to promote your music on our site.

First, you must subscribe to a paid membership and upload your music to your Beat Brokerz store. Then you can purchase promotional spots on our charts and other site listings through your seller account interface. This will feature your music on Beat Brokerz which will bring your pages more traffic and get your music more plays and downloads and ultimately lead to more sales.

The promotion that we offer can only be guaranteed to have an effect on your Beat Brokerz marketing activity. If you are interested only in results to your Soundclick page, Soundclick offers their own promotional packages. If you are interested in building your brand in the Beat Brokerz marketplace, please check out our latest promotional offers in your seller account interface!

Soundclick integration is the method by which we verify and link your Beat Brokerz account to your Soundclick account so that we can correctly link to your page and music catalog.

To integrate/verify your soundclick account, we provide html and css codes which you must place on your Soundclick page in order to verify that the soundclick page is owned by you and that it is in good standing.

For more information, read our guidebook section on setting up your Soundclick Profile

No and Yes.

No. There is no requirement to implement our beat selling service into your Soundclick page or even link to us for that matter. The button is simply a convenience method for your customers. If you don't want to use it, no problem.

Yes. If you want to take advantage of our Soundclick integration features, we need to have the button placed on your Soundclick page. Firstly, if the button wasn't there, how would your customers access the convenience features? Secondly, each button is linked to your Beat Brokerz account so we can verify that the Soundclick page that you claim is yours.... is ACTUALLY yours. This prevents someone else from creating a Beat Brokerz account and claiming that your Soundclick page belongs to them.

No.

Okay, but everybody on top of Soundclick seems to have your buttons on their page. So I'll go up like them though right?

No. Lot's of producers on Soundclick have our button and they're not all at the top. The ones that are at the top have worked very hard to get there. We can't take credit for that.

But people have told me that they get more plays on their music by using your promotions.

Yes. But that's merely a side effect of traffic flowing on our site. We do actually promote Soundclick music from our promotions spots in the form of linking to Soundclick pages and/or Soundclick songs. But we make no guarantees as to what kind of clickthrough or traffic will actually come your way.

No Way, No How.

Referral affiliate commissions are disabled on our Soundclick integration pages. The producer receives the only commission on the sale... always.

Problem: When you update your account username, the URL of your producer profile does not change.
Solution: After updating your account username, go to your "Producer Profile" settings page and click the save button at the bottom. This will update your URL with the new account username.

Unique visitors are the number of distinctly different visitors that access your pages. A single visitor may visit your page two times in one day, which would constitute two visits. However, it would only be one "unique visitor".

Please see the following document for more information about missing emails after an order is completed.

When you have a seller account, or an affiliate account on Beat Brokerz, you have the option to customize the look and feel of your embeddable mp3 players. You can set up as many customized "skins" as you like and use them to generate mp3 players which match the color scheme of the websites you are embedding them on.

When you create a custom mp3 player, you have the flexibility to change sizes, colors, functions, and default behavior of your mp3 player. The settings you create for each of your mp3 players are saved in your account for you to use again later.

  1. Click "My Account"
  2. Click "Affiliate Center"
  3. Click "MP3 Players"
  4. Click "Create New Custom Player" (Located just under the player preview)

User Accounts (2)

If you are a seller in our marketplace and do not wish to renew your paid membership, allowing your membership to lapse will not delete your account or any of your existing inventory. You can delete any beats from our system at any time through your account interface.

If you wish to delete your account and all of your inventory from our system, you must send a special request to our support team making the request. We have a formal procedure to do so.

We offer you ways to track your sales, purchases and even free downloads. In your account dash the tools are available to find out exactly what your business is doing for you. Compare download to sale ratios, see what beats sell the most, and even track via month, year or product.
